How to launch your school in edio

How to launch your school in edio

A step-by-step guide to launching your school in edio — from school settings to your first lesson with students. Takes about 30 minutes to set up.

To launch your school in edio, you need to complete five core steps: set up your school profile, add students, create a virtual class, choose lesson materials, and run your first lesson. The whole setup takes about 30 minutes, and you can invite teachers or enable extra features like the balance system along the way.

Set up your school

Start by adding your school name and photo — this is what your teachers and students will see when they log in.

  1. Click your name in the top right corner and select School settings.

  2. In the General settings tab, enter your school name and click Save.

  3. Upload a school photo (optional) — accepted formats: .jpeg, .jpg, .png, max 1 MB.

Invite your teachers (optional)

Skip this step if you teach all lessons yourself. If you have teachers on your team, add them so they can access the platform and be assigned to classes.

  1. Go to School settings → General settings.

  2. Click the Teachers tab.

  3. Click + Invite teachers and enter their email address.

  4. The teacher will receive an invitation email with login instructions.

Teachers have access to their assigned classes, class materials, and analytics. They do not have access to school settings or billing.

Add your first student

Before you can create a virtual class, you need to add at least one student. During your free trial, you can add up to 5 students.

  1. Go to Online lessons → Students tab.

  2. Click + Add a student.

  3. Fill in the form: the student's email address, name, and native language.

  4. Click Add.

The student automatically receives an invitation email with the name of your school, their login, and a temporary password for their first sign-in. After logging in, they will see your school and their assigned classes in their learning space.

Create a virtual class

A virtual class is the space where your teacher and students come together for lessons.

  1. Go to Online lessons and click + Create virtual class.

  2. Fill in the form:

    • Virtual class name — for example, "English A2 — Morning group"

    • Class language — the language being taught

    • The language we teach in — the language of instruction

    • Students list — select students already added to the platform

    • Teachers list — assign a teacher, or leave as yourself

    • Call link — paste your Zoom or Google Meet link here (optional)

    • Lesson duration — default is 60 min, can be changed

  3. Click Create virtual class.

You can edit all class settings later from the class page under Class settings.

Choose your lesson materials

Before running a lesson, explore the Class materials tab. There are two places to find materials:

  • edio Library — 80+ ready-made English lessons for levels A1–C1, built around real topics with interactive exercises. Perfect if you teach English and want to save prep time.

  • My Library — materials created by your school. Go to Class materials → My Library → Add materials to build lessons using 24 exercise types: auto-checked exercises, asynchronous teacher-reviewed tasks, and multimedia. You can also use the AI assistant to generate exercises faster.

If your teachers will be delivering the lessons, make sure they have access to the materials beforehand: go to More actions → User access on any material and set the access level to View or Edit.

Activate the balance system (optional)

The balance system lets you track prepaid lessons per student. When a lesson starts, the balance automatically decreases by one. You can also add or deduct lessons manually.

  1. Go to School settings → Balance system.

  2. Toggle Enable balance system for school to on.

  3. Each virtual class will now have a Balances tab where you can manage lessons for individual students.

Run your first lesson

Go to Online lessons, find your class, click Enter to open the virtual classroom, and press the green Start the lesson button — this activates real-time sync with your students.

During the lesson you can switch materials with Change lesson, direct students to a specific exercise, see every student's answers in real time in the Controls panel, message students in the built-in chat, and send words instantly with the vocabulary tool.

When the class is finished, click End lesson — you'll be able to mark attendance, give a star assessment, select achievements, and leave comments. Students will be prompted to rate the lesson.

After every lesson, edio automatically saves all data to Analytics: session overview, attendance rate, and per-student or per-teacher statistics.

What's next

Once your first lesson is done, explore what else edio can do for your school: white-label branding with your logo and domain (available as an add-on), online courses for self-paced learning, and detailed analytics for every student and teacher.
