Shopping & health: Walking with wolves

This A1 ESL lesson teaches the Present Continuous and nature vocabulary through the story of a man who walks with wolves, so beginners describe actions happening right now from the first task.

What students learn

Students build nature and animal vocabulary — wolf, forest, river, mountain — along with outdoor verbs like feed, walk, watch, run, sleep, take photos, explore nature and spend time outdoors. The phrase a pack of wolves is pre-taught before the listening.

Grammar focus

The lesson covers the Present Continuous for actions happening now: the structure am / is / are + verb-ing, across positive, negative and question forms. Students practise with gap-fills, negative-sentence building and time markers like now, today and at the moment.

How the lesson works

A warm-up and a lead-in photo of wolves open the topic, then vocabulary, a listening task with a script about the man and his pack, the grammar block, a test and homework. Homework includes word-definition matching, a gap-fill story about a girl who helps foxes, and a correct-or-false grammar check, with instant feedback throughout.
