Shopping & health: Shopping day

This A1 ESL lesson teaches How much and How many together with clothes vocabulary and prices, framed around a day at a shopping mall so beginners ask about quantity and cost in real situations.

What students learn

Students build clothes vocabulary — T-shirt, jacket, sweater, hoodie, trousers, socks, trainers, boots, suit, cap, dress, skirt, backpack — and learn to read and say prices in pounds, euros and dollars. Listening tasks with numbers up to 100 and shop conversations make prices click.

Grammar focus

The lesson contrasts How many (with plural countable nouns) and How much (with uncountable nouns, and for asking the price). A clear rule box and examples like How many jackets have you got? versus How much is the cap? are followed by gap-fills, matching and question building.

How the lesson works

A warm-up photo of a shopping mall opens the topic, then a section on understanding prices with audio, clothes vocabulary, the grammar block, a reading about a shopping mall inside an airport, a final quiz and homework.
