How to create your own materials
How to build your own lessons in edio — create a material in My Library, add lessons and chapters, and fill them with interactive exercises.
Your own content lives in Class materials → My Library. The structure goes from the outside in: a material holds lessons, a lesson holds chapters, and a chapter holds exercises. Start by creating the material, then add lessons to it, then build each lesson out of the 24 exercise types available.
Create a material
Open Class materials → My Library and click Create materials. Fill in the form:
Image — a cover picture, so the material is easy to spot in the list.
Name of teaching materials — a clear, descriptive title.
The language we teach — the language students will learn.
The language we teach in — the language of instruction. Both are chosen from the 17 languages edio supports.
Teachers list — which teachers in your school can access this material.
Level — the CEFR level, A1 to C2.
Click Add. The material appears as a card showing its name, image, language, level, and number of lessons.
Manage the material
Each material card has Open to work on its content, and a More actions menu:
Copy to courses — move the material into courses, so it can be sold or assigned to students for self-study.
User access — control who can use the material: view only, use in online lessons, or edit the content.
Edit — update the details you filled in above.
Duplicate — create a copy to reuse or adapt for another purpose.
Add lessons
Click Open on the material card to see its lessons. Click Add a lesson and fill in:
Lesson title — shown in the list of lessons.
Short description — up to 200 characters, explaining the lesson to students.
Lesson image — optional; without it, the lesson appears without a picture.
Click Add to save.
Inside a material you can add a lesson in two ways: the plus icon between existing lessons inserts one in the middle, and the Add a lesson block at the end appends it after the rest. The search bar helps when a material grows long, and More actions on each lesson lets you edit it, move it up or down, copy it, or duplicate it.
The gear icon at the top updates the material details — language, image, title.
Build the lesson
Click Enter on a lesson card to open the lesson workspace. This is where the content goes.
On the left is the list of chapters — the sections of your lesson. Click Add a Chapter to create one. The three dots next to a chapter let you rename it or move it up and down.
In the main area, click Add a new exercise to insert activities into the chapter. Exercises can be added in any order, so you can build the structure as you go.
Choose an exercise type
Add a new exercise opens a window with all 24 exercise types, grouped by what they do:
Content — video, image or GIF, notes, audio, article or text, button link, PDF.
Auto-checked — quiz, matching, true or false, word choice, fill in the blank, drag and drop, word choice by image, fill in the blank with image.
Teacher-reviewed — writing practice, teacher-reviewed writing, teacher-reviewed audio.
Vocabulary — vocabulary blocks that feed into students' personal dictionaries.
Integrations — Miro, Quizlet, Wordwall, Genially, and embed for anything else.
Mix them freely: a lesson can open with a video, move to vocabulary, drill grammar with a quiz, and end with a writing task that comes back to you for review.
